After the play at Dr. Charles Best Secondary and the fire / earthquake drill, there wasn’t a lot of time left for class work today but we did our best. Here’s what we managed to wedge in:
1. Songs in the Key of Crispin
I asked Ss to think of songs that might fit with Crispin’s life. There were many interesting suggestions. Here is a video for one of them:
“I Can See Clearly Now” by Johnny Nash
We’ll spend more time next week thinking about the themes of the novel and songs that might fit those big ideas.
2. Chapter 52 to 58 Tableaus
Groups of students were given one of seven scenes from the final section of the novel. Each group presented their tableau and the audience guessed what was shown. The tableuus served as a fine summary of the exciting events that close the book.
If you’re looking for a short summary of the whole novel, you might find this video, Crispin: The Cross of Lead - The Movie, interesting:
That’s all for this week. Take care ’til next Friday.
- Mr. Holbrook
